Milestar Patagonia M/T – The Affordable Mud Slinging, Rock Crawling, Let’s Get Dirty Tire

There is something awesome about the appearance of mud-terrain tires. Those big chunky, blocky tread designs, solid sidewalls, and sheer size are impressive. It used to be that the 31-inch M/T tire was the hands-down standard, but that gave way to the 33-inch, then the 35-inch, and today we see builds with 36 to 38-inch M/Ts regularly. Standby for the 40-inch rubber, making a mark soon.

At AWT Jeeps, we have a great collection of these go-through anything tires, but a favorite is the Milestar Patagonia M/T. This rubber not only performs for the hardcore off-road enthusiast but is surprisingly quiet and civilized on the pavement, making it an excellent value as an all-around tire.

How to Make an Uber Off-Road Tire

Tireco Inc, a U.S.-based tire company that owns Milestar, has successfully made several tire brands aimed at commercial users, passenger cars, and light-duty trucks since 1974. However, in 2016, Tireco realized it was missing out on a fast-growing market segment and launched the Milestar Patagonia M/T line aimed at off-road enthusiasts.

Visually, the most impressive part of this mud-terrain tire is the tread. The pattern has a high-void design that helps promote self-cleaning, a desirable characteristic in the giant mud field that the Southwest states have become this summer. In addition, the tread’s angle biting edges and sipes ensure the rubber will keep moving forward even in the messiest terrain. Toss in integrated stone ejectors to keep the channels clear of small rocks and debris, and you have a tire ready for all wet and dry conditions.

And then there is the compound. While the tread pattern is designed principally to deal with sloppy terrain, the compound tends to be more sticky than typical M/T class rubber. This, of course, makes it an ideal rock crawling tire, particularly at low psi rates. The tire conforms to the shape of the rock, while the sticky compound enhances traction. With three-ply sidewalls protecting from impact and providing strength at low psi, the Milestar Patagonia is much more than just a mudder.

Bringing It On Home

If you are like most of our customers, your Wrangler is not used exclusively off-road. Instead, it gets you to and from work, the grocery store, the local pub, and everywhere else you go in regular, everyday life.

Off-road tires, particularly big honking M/T models, are typically not known for their on-road performance. The Milestar Patagonia M/T is the exception providing responsive handling, smooth ride, and road noise that doesn’t drown out the radio.

Throw in durability and an affordable price point, and you have a tire that gives you the best of both worlds. Available in a wide range of sizes and widths, call AWT Jeeps at 877-223-6460 and hook up a set for your ride. Your Jeep will thank you.
